About the Author
Andrea Levy (1956–2019) was a British novelist born in London to Jamaican parents who arrived in England as part of the Windrush generation. She began writing fiction in her thirties, publishing Every Light in the House Burning in 1994, followed by Never Far from Nowhere and Fruit of the Lemon. Her fourth novel, Small Island, won the Orange Prize for Fiction, the Whitbread Book of the Year, and the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and became one of the most acclaimed British novels of its generation. Her later novel The Long Song was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
