About the Authors
Tsugumi Ohba is a Japanese manga writer best known as the creator of the hit series Death Note, Bakuman, and Platinum End. Ohba's identity remains largely private, with most public information focused on the work itself rather than personal biography. Takeshi Obata, born in 1969 in Niigata, Japan, is the illustrator who brought Bakuman to life after first gaining international recognition as the artist behind Hikaru no Go, for which he won the 2003 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the 2000 Shogakukan Manga Award. Obata went on to illustrate Death Note before reuniting with Ohba for Bakuman, cementing their reputation as one of manga's most successful writer-artist duos.
