Overview
This two-book paperback collection brings together Charles Spencer's two most personal memoirs. In Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, the 9th Earl Spencer reflects candidly on the life, marriage, and death of his sister, Diana, Princess of Wales. In A Very Private School, he turns to his own painful childhood, recounting the abuse he endured at an exclusive boarding school. Together, these books offer a rare, unguarded look into the Spencer family's private world, told with honesty, grief, and hard-won resilience, making this set compelling reading for anyone fascinated by modern royal history.

About the Books
Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, is uniquely placed to write about both his sister and himself, and these two memoirs reveal very different sides of his story. Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is his personal account of growing up alongside Diana, watching her transform into one of the most photographed women in the world, and ultimately losing her in the Paris car crash of 1997. Drawing on family memories and his own recollections as her younger brother, Spencer traces Diana's journey from a shy aristocratic girl to a global icon hounded by the press, touching on her marriage, her charity work, and her devotion to her sons, offering a rare brother's-eye view of one of the most scrutinized and beloved women of the twentieth century, written with both tenderness and unflinching honesty. A Very Private School, a Sunday Times bestselling memoir, returns to decades earlier, when an eight-year-old Charles Spencer was sent away to Maidwell Hall, a boarding school in Northamptonshire, documenting the harsh discipline, isolation, and homesickness that shaped him long into adulthood and later informed his views on the British boarding school system. Both books share Spencer's gift for vivid, reflective prose, together forming a candid, moving portrait of resilience from one of Britain's most recognizable storytellers.
