Overview
Step into Annwn, the shimmering, dangerous dream-mirror of London, in Holly Race's acclaimed City of Nightmares trilogy. This 3-book paperback set follows twins Fern and Ollie King as they discover their destiny as Knights, sworn guardians of the Dreamers who slip into this hidden world each night. Blending fast-paced urban fantasy with Arthurian legend, the series builds steadily from a startling debut into an epic, emotional finale that ties every thread together. Perfect for teen and young adult readers who love immersive, London-set fantasy adventures packed with romance, danger, and myth, this set makes a great gift for any fantasy-loving reader.
About the Books
The City of Nightmares trilogy opens with Midnight's Twins, introducing fifteen-year-old Fern King, who discovers that she and her twin brother Ollie can cross into Annwn, the dream mirror of London where Dreamers sleepwalk through their own imaginations. As Knights, the twins are sworn to protect these Dreamers, even as ancient forces threaten the fragile balance between worlds. The trilogy continues in A Gathering Midnight, where the twins, now seasoned Knights, face deepening darkness as mistrust spreads through Annwn and the boundary between the dream world and reality begins to crack, while romance complicates matters for both siblings. The story concludes in A Midnight Dark and Golden, as Fern — stripped of her powers and facing her nemesis Medraut — must retrieve Excalibur and the Grail to save Annwn from collapse. Praised for its lyrical writing, the series has drawn comparisons to Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and V.E. Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic, delivering fast-paced plotting and mythic stakes that build book after book.
