Overview
Step into the caves, castles, and cursed forests of Allansia with this fifteen-book Fighting Fantasy collection from Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. This paperback set gathers some of the series' most beloved choose-your-path gamebooks, from the original Warlock of Firetop Mountain quest through later adventures like Crystal of Storms. Readers roll dice, track their own STAMINA and SKILL scores, and choose their own route through branching, second-person adventures where every decision can mean victory or a swift end. It's a durable, giftable way to own a wide slice of the legendary Fighting Fantasy saga in one paperback set.
About the Books
Fighting Fantasy pioneered the modern gamebook: second-person adventures where the reader is the hero, dice rolls and simple stat tracking decide combat, and numbered paragraphs branch the story in dozens of directions. This set spans early classics such as The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, City of Thieves, and Citadel of Chaos, where readers first infiltrate dungeons, cities, and fortresses armed with little more than a dagger and their wits, through mid-series adventures like Forest of Doom, House of Hell, and Deathtrap Dungeon that raise the stakes with puzzles, horror, and lethal traps. Later entries, including The Port of Peril, Creature of Havoc, Appointment With F.E.A.R., and Island of the Lizard King, push into stranger territory, casting the reader as a memory-loss monster, a secret agent, or a castaway facing reptilian rulers. The Gates of Death, The Caverns of the Snow Witch, Assassins of Allansia, Return to Firetop Mountain, and Crystal of Storms round out the set with icy wastelands, shadowy conspiracies, and a callback to where it all began. Across all fifteen books, the appeal is the same: no two readings play out identically, replay value is built in, and success depends on careful choices as much as luck. It's a set that rewards both first-time readers discovering gamebooks and longtime fans revisiting a foundational slice of fantasy gaming history.
