Garry Disher was born on August 15, 1949, in South Australia and has become one of Australia's most respected crime writers, with a career spanning more than 40 books. He holds a Master's degree in Australian History from Monash University and once held a creative writing fellowship at Stanford University before returning to Melbourne to teach writing himself.
