About the Books
Graham Masterton's Katie Maguire series follows Detective Superintendent Katie Maguire, one of Ireland's most determined investigators, as she confronts brutal crimes across six standalone yet interconnected novels set in and around Cork. The series opens with White Bones, in which the discovery of eleven long-buried bodies drags a decades-old atrocity into the present day, establishing the moody, history-haunted tone that defines the collection. Subsequent installments push Maguire into darker corners of Irish society: Broken Angels examines predatory secrets hidden behind respectable faces, Red Light exposes the brutal machinery of exploitation and trafficking, and Taken for Dead traps a victim in a race against time on a remote coastal cove. Blood Sisters turns its attention to institutional cruelty and buried guilt, while Buried closes the run by dragging long-hidden history back into the light. Masterton, best known for decades as a bestselling horror novelist before turning to crime fiction, brings a distinctive intensity to the series, blending forensic procedure with a strong, almost gothic sense of place. Cork itself becomes a character throughout — its lanes, coastlines, and closed communities shaping every investigation. Readers who enjoy tightly plotted mysteries with morally complex villains and a detective who refuses to look away will find this collection a satisfying, immersive read, ideal for binge-reading over a rainy weekend or working through slowly, one book at a time.

About the Author
Graham Masterton was born in Edinburgh in 1946 and began his career as a newspaper reporter before becoming a magazine editor in his early twenties.
