Overview
This Ruth Ozeki collection bundles three brand-new copies of her acclaimed fiction: backlist favorites My Year of Meats and All Over Creation, plus her highly anticipated debut story collection, The Typing Lady. Ozeki writes with wit, warmth, and a blend of satire and tenderness, tackling the American food industry, small-town farming, and the quiet dramas of everyday life. Ideal for literary fiction fans and book clubs, this set offers a satisfying introduction to one of contemporary fiction's most inventive and humane voices.
About the Books
Each book in this Ruth Ozeki collection shows a different side of her storytelling. My Year of Meats follows Jane Takagi-Little, a Japanese American filmmaker hired to produce a TV show sponsored by the U.S. meat industry, who uncovers unsettling truths about hormones and factory farming. Told with sharp humor and real emotional stakes, it remains one of Ozeki's most widely read novels. All Over Creation follows Yumi Fuller as she returns to her family's Idaho potato farm after twenty-five years away, only to find it caught between genetically modified seed companies and a band of young activists calling themselves the Seeds of Resistance. Rounding out the set is The Typing Lady: And Other Fictions, Ozeki's debut collection of short stories written over two decades, exploring writers, memory, aging, and the strange intimacy between an author and her characters. Together, these three books offer a rich cross-section of Ozeki's career, spanning sweeping novels and compact, perfectly observed short fiction.
