Overview
Step into the shabby, fluorescent-lit corridors of Slough House, where disgraced MI5 agents are exiled to push paper under the watchful, flatulent eye of Jackson Lamb. This six-book paperback collection gathers the first run of Mick Herron's acclaimed Slough House Thriller Series: Slow Horses, Dead Lions, Real Tigers, Spook Street, London Rules, and Joe Country. Witty, twisty, and unflinchingly sharp, these novels follow MI5's washed-up "slow horses" as they stumble into conspiracies far bigger than their demoted careers suggest. A must-have set for espionage fans and readers of the hit television adaptation Slow Horses.
About the Books
The Slough House Thriller Series follows British intelligence officers who have fouled up so badly they've been banished to Slough House, a dilapidated backwater office of MI5 reserved for career failures and administrative dead ends. Presiding over them is Jackson Lamb, a brilliant, slovenly, and endlessly quotable has-been spy whose instincts remain razor-sharp even as his manners never improve. Across these six novels, the "slow horses" are repeatedly drawn into high-stakes operations they were never meant to touch: kidnapping plots, assassination conspiracies, far-right extremist cells, and rogue factions inside MI5 itself. Mick Herron blends the tension of classic Cold War espionage fiction with the dark comedy of office politics, delivering prose compared by critics to the best spy writers of his generation. Dead Lions, the second book in this set, won the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger, and Spook Street later claimed the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, cementing the series' reputation among the finest spy fiction being written today. Together, these six books trace an ongoing, richly plotted saga of loyalty, betrayal, and survival inside the forgotten corners of British intelligence, where redemption always seems just out of reach. The series has since been adapted into the hit television show Slow Horses, introducing an even wider audience to Jackson Lamb and his misfit team of overlooked, underestimated agents.
