Overview
Discover the case files that launched forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan into the front rank of crime fiction with this 12-book paperback collection from Kathy Reichs. Beginning with the award-winning Deja Dead and running through 206 Bones, these novels follow Tempe from Montreal morgues to Guatemalan grave sites, Carolina swamps, and Caribbean shorelines. Reichs draws on her own career as a forensic anthropologist to ground every autopsy, DNA result, and skeletal clue in real procedure, giving the series a documentary edge many crime novels lack. This set collects the first twelve Tempe Brennan novels in publication order.
About the Books
Kathy Reichs is a practicing forensic anthropologist, and that hands-on expertise drives every book in this collection. In Deja Dead, Tempe Brennan's discovery of a dismembered body in Montreal launches a debut so assured it earned Reichs the Ellis Award for Best First Novel and turned the series into an international bestseller. Death Du Jour pulls Tempe from a nun's exhumed remains into an arson case stretching from Quebec to the Carolinas, while Deadly Decisions traces a child's murder across biker-gang violence. Fatal Voyage strands Tempe at a mountain plane-crash site where human wreckage raises more questions than it answers, and Grave Secrets sends her to Guatemala to identify victims of political violence and a chilling disappearance. Bare Bones, set during a punishing Montreal summer, opens with a newborn's remains found in a wood stove. Monday Mourning uncovers three skeletons hidden for decades in a building basement, and Cross Bones follows Tempe from a suspicious Montreal death to archaeological questions overseas. Break No Bones ties a prehistoric burial site to a current crime, Bones to Ashes reopens the disappearance of a childhood friend, Devil Bones centers on a ritual chamber and a missing heiress, and 206 Bones closes the set with an accusation of misconduct that puts Tempe's career and safety on the line. Across all twelve novels, Reichs blends laboratory precision with real emotional stakes, rewarding readers who enjoy procedural detail as much as plot twists.
