About the Books
Liz Pichon's Tom Gates series is loved for stories told through comic panels, quirky hand-lettered text, and doodles filling every margin. This two-book collection captures Tom at his funniest and most creative. Book of Everything (Book 22) flips the format into an interactive journal, giving readers space to record favorite jokes, draw their own characters, stick in photos of friends, and fill out quizzes inspired by Tom's world — part activity book, part keepsake. Ha! Ha! Hilarious (Book 23) returns to the standard story format, following Tom as he launches a brand-new comic strip, Ants In Pants, determined to make his classmates laugh harder than ever. Family life, school pranks, sibling rivalry with sister Delia, and Tom's wildly inventive imagination all take center stage, delivered in Pichon's instantly recognizable scrawled-notebook art style. Both books arrive in sturdy brand new hardback editions, durable enough for backpacks, classroom libraries, and repeat bedtime reading. Whether a child is already deep into the series or just discovering it, this set offers an easy entry point into one of the most celebrated illustrated series for middle-grade readers, blending genuine laughs with relatable, true-to-life school and family moments.
