The stories range widely in tone and setting, from a World War II veteran adjusting to life back home, to a lonely bowling alley regular, to a group of friends launching a talk show, revealing Hanks as a generous, funny, and perceptive observer of everyday American life. The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece is Hanks's ambitious debut novel, following the decades-long journey of a comic book character from its 1940s origins to its reinvention as a modern superhero blockbuster. Told through a kaleidoscope of formats, including screenplay excerpts, interview transcripts, and illustrated comic panels, the novel is both a loving tribute to and a sly send-up of the film industry Hanks knows intimately. Together, these two books reveal an author unafraid to experiment with structure and voice, drawing on decades spent in front of and behind the camera. Readers who enjoyed Hanks's performances for his humor and warmth will find both qualities abundant here, alongside a genuine curiosity about ordinary people, obsolete technology, and the strange machinery of modern moviemaking. This set offers a satisfying introduction to Hanks's literary side for longtime fans and new readers alike.

Key Benefits

Two complete paperback books by Tom Hanks in one convenient bundle

Includes the acclaimed short story collection Uncommon Type

Features the inventive Hollywood novel The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece

Showcases Hanks's range across short fiction and long-form storytelling

Brand new condition, ready to read or gift right away

Great addition for fans of literary fiction, film history, and celebrity authors

Book-by-Book Guide
Uncommon Type: Some Stories — Seventeen short stories united by the quiet presence of a typewriter in each tale.
The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece — A genre-blending novel tracing a comic book hero's journey from pulp pages to the big screen.

About the Author
Tom Hanks is a two-time Academy Award-winning actor, director, and producer known for roles in Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Saving Private Ryan.
