Overview
This paperback collection gathers books four through six of Robert Jordan's landmark Wheel of Time saga: The Shadow Rising, The Fires of Heaven, and Lord of Chaos. Together they mark the series' turn from origin story to full-blown epic, as Rand al'Thor's fight against the Shadow spreads across nations, cultures, and magic systems. Longtime fans revisiting these pivotal middle volumes, and newcomers picking up the saga for the first time, will find dense world-building, shifting alliances, and rising stakes in one convenient paperback set.
About the Books
The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, but in these three volumes the pace of change accelerates dramatically. In The Shadow Rising, Rand al'Thor journeys into the harsh Aiel Waste to claim his heritage as the clans' prophesied leader, while Two Rivers friends Perrin and Mat face their own trials back home. The Fires of Heaven widens the map further, following Rand as he consolidates political power among wary nations and the fierce Aiel while Nynaeve and Elayne pursue a dangerous foe across the sea. Lord of Chaos raises the tension again as the Dragon Reborn's authority is challenged from every side, the White Tower fractures, and old prophecies begin to converge into a single, unstoppable current. Across the three books, Robert Jordan expands his cast into one of fantasy's largest and most memorable ensembles, weaving political intrigue, hard-won magic, and personal transformation into a continuous narrative. Readers who love intricate plotting and morally complex characters will find these middle volumes essential groundwork for confrontations later in the saga. Packaged together in matching paperback editions, this set makes it easy to move through a key stretch of the story without hunting down individual volumes.
